Log Barge Dumping in Ladysmith Harbour, Vancouver Island

Log barge dumping in Ladysmith Harbour, Vancouver Island, is a weekly event. It is pretty dramatic, and almost always attracts a crowd to watch. Logs are offloaded from a log barge by tipping it – the log barge is slowly tipped over by flooding its tipping tanks on one side. The preparation for dumping usually takes about 2 hours, but the actual dumping takes only a few seconds!

It is spectacular to watch from our oceanfront garden. Here is a sequence of pictures taken by us.
